How do we worship?

What You Can Expect When Attending a Typical Sunday Service at Dorval-Strathmore United Church

We worship with song, prayer, reading God's word and fellowship with eachother

HOW GOOD IT IS, GOD, TO BE HERE!
You will be greeted as you enter and an Usher will provide you with a copy of the Order of Service ("the bulletin").  In anticipation of the 9:30 service, you will have the opportunity to catch up with fellow parishioners.  Announcements will be made about upcoming events and the life and work of the congregation.

PRELUDE and CALL TO WORSHIP
Worship begins with a musical prelude followed by a responsive call to worship led by the Minister.

OPENING HYMN
The Congregation is invited to stand (when able) and sing from the Hymn books provided.  All Hymns are listed in the Order of Service as well as on the wall at the front of the Church.

OPENING PRAYER
The Minister or a member of the Congregation will lead a responsive prayer which is printed in the Order of Service.

SUNG RESPONSE
The Congregation  sings "Spirit of Life".  The words are printed in the Order of Service but if you life to follow along with the music it is #381 in the Voices United Hymn book.

STORY
The Minister greets the Congregation and tell the children and young at heart a story. On the first Sunday of every month, it is "Happy Hat" day where an additional offering is taken up that will be given to the United Church's Mission and Service Fund.
